Text: I have finally gone digital just this past week, and will no longer be using some of my lenses whose angle of view will be less to my liking after the 1.5x multiplication factor of the digital sensor.

The Nikkor 35mm f/2D auto-focus lens from Nikon has outstanding image quality. Centre-to-edge sharpness is superb, with excellent control of distortion and aberration. Fast f/2 maximum aperture with standard wide angle of view. Compact and lightweight for easy handling. Accepts 52mm filters; HN-3 lens hood.

Minimum focus distance is a generous 10.2", angle of view for film cameras is 62 degrees, and for Nikon digital cameras is 44 degrees. This make it the prime moderate wide angle lens for film photography, and the prime standard lens for digital photography (equivalent to a 50-55mm lens on a film camera).

Unfortunately, this is the very reason I am selling it: Now that my fast f/1.4 50mm lens is no longer a standard lens but a mild telephoto, I need a faster lens in the 30-35mm range, as I do a lot of available light photography.

My goal is to sell both this lens and my Nikon 24mm f/2.8 and buy the new Sigma 30mm f/1.4 (unless Nikon comes out with a similar lens SOON!). I am not putting the 24mm lens up for sale until this 35mm lens sells first, as I can part with the 35mm lens regardless, but can only part with the 24mm lens if I replace it with the 30mm digital-only lens. I have owned this lens for about three years, and had it checked out and fine-tuned last year (it has not been used except once since then, as I have been waiting to make the transition to digital so have not been shooting this past year, until this past week). It works fine in either auto-focus or manual mode.

The lens comes in its original box with original paperwork and manual, along with front and rear lens caps. The lens hood is thrown in for free but did not come with it (a $15 value), and I am also donating an excellent top-quality B+W Strong UV filter #415 (a $37 value). This is a MUCH better filter than the standard UV filter, as it blocks the ENTIRE UV spectrum. Especially important in the tropics, in foggy or hazy conditions, on telephoto lens (not applicable in this case), and at high altitudes. This filter made a big difference for me.

These sell for around $320 or more new, not including the extras (roughly $52 total), and typically go for around $260 on eBay. I am selling mine for $220, including the extras. I would like to sell this quickly as I am using it to fund wider lenses for my new digital camera. If it doesn't sell in the next few days, I will either post it on eBay or send it to B+H in NYC.
