THIS is a conversation piece....It is an antique Napoleonic stlyle "Theodore B. Starrof New York" Knight's Helmet with a clock set inside, (glass convex flipcover over clockface, which has white enamel roman numerals). It was made in France in the latter 19th Century. The timepiece itself was made and stamped by France's legendary "Medal Of Honor du Francais" recipients, the Jappy Freres, who made timepieces for the French Royal Family. It chimes on the half-hour. Perhaps this unique, hand-crafted antique which is Silver-plated on Bronze, carries more value for people who's home or office decor includes other things heraldic-Knight's armour, swords, medieval weaponry, tapestries etc. than for antique clock only people. I'm no expert on antiques nor heraldic antiques. This item belonged to my late father and unlike me, he did know his stuff about both.
