Alarm features and options Definitions.
Starter disable("starter kill"): Electrically disconnects the
ignition switch from the starter motor. This alone will not stop the most experienced
thief, but eliminates the average thief who may have a master key for your car.
Tilt sensor: This will trigger the alarm if the vehicle is jacked up to
remove wheels or to tow it.
Hood sensor: This will trigger the alarm if the hood is forced open.
This is an important addition to any alarm system as the most common way to steal a car is
to first open the hood and disconnect the battery, thus allowing the thief the quiet time
to disconnect the car's alarm system.
Horn honk AND siren: This is the option of connecting the car's horn
and the alarm's siren to the alarm. This results in a much louder sound when the alarm is
triggered. This also provides a backup alarm sound if the alarm's siren is cut by a thief.
Backup Battery Siren: This is a second alarm siren which is usually
mounted inside the vehicle. This second siren has its own built in battery to allow it to
continue sounding even if the car's battery is disconnected, or if the alarm is ripped out
of the car.
Radar proximity sensor: Much light a motion sensor light on your house.
This sensor provides an invisible area of protection around your car. (Most useful for
convertibles, open top trucks, or small cars.)
